September Events

Although school back in session and is summer fading away the events in Columbia are still going strong. Routine is imminent, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all have some fun. Work hard play hard right?  Continue reading for some exciting events happening during the month of September!

September 1-4Labor Day last chance to soak up some sun on the lake or the river before the warm Columbia air starts to cool off.

September 3rdFirst Sunday at the State Museum. Occurring every month on the first Sunday of the month enjoy the history of South Carolina. $1 for general admission. Times are from 12pm-5pm. Planetarium is an added fee.

September 9th Trustus Theater Season 39 Kickoff. Join Trustus theater in a block party to celebrate their 39th season. Tickets are $15. There will be food trucks, performances by local artists and beer and wine. The block party will be hosted from 11am-3pm. Don’t miss their first show of the season Sweeney Todd. Shows starting September 29th.

September 15thColumbia Design League @ Park(ing) Day. Hosted from 10am-4pm on the 1500 Block Main St.  Free for all ages. This is a global project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into safer, greener, more equitable public spaces. (Columbia Museum of Art)

September 16thWest Columbia’s Meeting St. Music Festival. Don’t miss out on West Columbia’s first-ever music festival. It will be held from 4pm-8pm at the 500-700 block of Meeting Street. It’s free and everyone of all ages are welcome!  Enjoy music from across multiple genres from locally known artist and more!

September 29thRiverbanks ZOOfari. Head to Riverbanks Zoo’s yearly fundraiser to support the Zoo and animals that inhabit it.

September 21stConcert in the Garden Located at the Hampton-Preston Mansion and Gardens. “Performers from the South Carolina Philharmonic will join Historic Columbia to present a beautiful concert of light classics”(Historic Columbia) Tickets are $20. The concert will be from 5pm-7pm.

September 30thHop Forward: Best of SC Craft Beer Festival Hosted at 800 Junction in the Vista by the South Carolina’s Brewers Guild. Over 60 breweries will come together for this event. Indulge in beer and brews from all over SC. General Admission tickets are $55 and VIP tickets are $85.
