SC State Fair
One of the biggest things to do in October in South Carolina is the State Fair. The dates are from October 12th through October 23rd. For all things family, fun, and funnel cakes visit the link here!
If you are new to Columbia or just hate the hot weather. Fall is the best time of year to take advantage of Soda City Market hosted every Saturday on Main Street from 9am to 1pm. Soda City has everything ranging from local food trucks, to handmade jewelry, to local artists. It’s family and pup friendly. Afterwards enjoy a bite to eat on Main Street or a movie at the Nickelodeon.
The Big Mo
The Big Monetta drive-in movie theater takes you back in time. Take a trip out to Leesville with a date or the family to catch a feature film from the comfort of your car, truck bed or hatch-back. There are three different screens each showing two different movies starting at sundown Friday through Sunday. Check their website weekly for different movies.
Breweries and Biergartens
One thing that is booming in Columbia right now are breweries and biergartens. Depending on your vibe we have everything from twinkle lights and picnic tables to boujie bars and live music. Some of our top favorites are Weco Bottle and Biergarten, Steel Hands Brewing, and Savage Craft Ale Works, but there are so many more! Check them out here!
Feeling Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Prefer the Trails?
Columbia has tons of different spots to get your cardio on this fall. The Riverwalk is a classic but did you know there are walking trails at Harbison Forest, Congaree National Park and Sesquicentennial State Park. If you’re located closer to Lexington Virginia Hylton Park has some great shade and they just announced a huge expansion.
